The SoupforU Program provides a free soup care package to students who are feeling under the weather. We deliver it to their doorstep; even if they live off campus. The package includes homemade soup (with a chicken or vegetarian option), tissues, chapstick, tea, honey sticks, toothbrush, Vitamin water, free music downloads from Radio K, a Boynton Health Services brochure, a health myth buster, a joke book (because laughter is the best medicine), a Ronald McDonald cardboard house to help the families of sick children by collecting pop tabs, and a get well card from Hillel.

Angie, our Community Health Intern, makes big batches of the soup with fresh onions, celery, and carrots and rolls all the matzah balls by hand. Angie is a Registered Dietitian working on her Masters in Public Health Nutrition at the U of MN. Aside from the soup program, she also cooks the Shabbat dinners and any other programming that requires food. She writes an educational blog and organizes things related to health and wellness for Hillel. For example, she gave a talk to the Jewish sorority about eating well and healthy weight loss. She organized a team for the Dreidel Dash 5K run. This spring, with Angie’s help, Hillel is putting together a Hillel Recipe Book which will include all of the healthy recipes that she has used for Shabbats in the past.

If your student is feelings stressed, tired, or sick all they have to do is log on to www.ujews.com to find our SoupforU link. By simply filling out their name, location, and contact info they can set up a delivery of this wonderful care package. If you think your student is in need of a Hillel pick-me-up, you can go onto our site and fill out their information on their behalf.
