BLU Crew

What is the BLU Crew?

BLU Crew is a new initiative that Hillel, the Jewish Student Center, has created to form a group of students who will link the students at each residence hall with Hillel. The BLU Crew is a leadership opportunity designed to give selected students experience in networking, programming and communication as they serve as a bridge between the Jewish students in the residence halls and the Jewish resources available on campus and in the community, beginning with Hillel.

As part of this new initiative, BLU Crew Interns will reach out to the Jewish students to help them feel comfortable as they transition to the University of Minnesota. They will also be available as a resource to the Community Advisors in each resident hall to plan programs and make sure CAs are informed of the opportunities that Hillel offers to all students on campus (such as SoupForU initiative and Laughter Yoga, to name just a few).

Additional Thoughts:

The main objective of the BLU Crew is to connect with the Jewish students in their Residence Hall. Hillel will provide names and contact information for any known students. The hope is that through this initiative, BLU Crew members will be able to identify additional students over time.

There is room for creativity and the expectation is that each BLUE Crew member will have a different experience in their Residence Hall based on the group of students that live there and their interests.

The idea is not to get these students to necessarily come to Hillel, but rather to make sure that Hillel is on their radar.

The hope is that by providing Jewish resources to the students in their Residence Hall that are tailored to the specific students, BLU Crew members will enrich the Jewish lives of their Residence Hall students while they are in college.
